Armour >> Armour From 1050 - 1150
The only real changes here have to do with maille. At Hastings, some
Norman knights had hose of maille. By the time of the first Crusade in 1096, maille
coats extend to the wrist and fall to the knee. After the Crusade, maille mittens
were worn.
Helms are still conical nasal types. By 1150, however, a new helm appears: the kettle hat. This style would last until the First World War and
beyond, as a Civilian Defense Helm. The kettle hat was simply a round or
conically topped hat with a brim attached.
