The imagery presented here is that of "The Feaste". The feaste was the culminating event borne of the hunt in the woodlands and the preparation in the cookery. Feasting was as much a social practice binding peoples together as it was survivable sustenance, albeit lavish sustenance. The typical lavish feastes of the age were elaborate proceedings most oft reserved for the nobles and the knights, the peasantry being left to fend for themselves providing comparatively simple and mundane meals prepared and served from the small hearths of their humble dwellings. 'Twas good to be the King! HUZZAH! |
