  • Jul 1190: King Philip of France and King Richard of England set out on the Third Crusade
  • Winter 1190-1: The French and English make camp in Sicily
  • Jul 12, 1191: Acre surrendered to King Philip, King Richard and King Guy; King Philip departs the Holy Land for France shortly afterward
  • Sep 7, 1191: King Richard meets Saladin at the Battle of Arsuf
  • Nov-Dec 1191: Richard's Crusaders march toward Jerusalem but turn back to the coast
  • Jun 1192: Richard's Crusaders march again toward Jerusalem but turn back again
  • Oct 9, 1192: King Richard the Lionhearted departs the Holy Land for home
